Three Shows for the Price of One to Celebrate
St. Patrick’s Day
Royal Canadian Legion, Norwood Branch
82 Street and 111 Avenue
Friday, March 4, 2011 8:00 p.m.
$25 cover admission
Local Celtic fiddler Lizzy Hoyt, accompanied by Keith Rempel on bass and guitarist Chris Tabbert, will be providing the middle set of a three-part St. Patrick’s Day celebration of all things Irish – especially the music. She will be providing selections from her latest CD Home as well as a few traditional Irish folk classics. Lizzy puts on a vibrant and energetic show.
The first set will feature Edmonton harpist Kerry Zwicker with her husband Nathan Cavana of Cowboy Celtic fame on the traditional Irish bodhran along with cellist Jeff Farragar. The group call themselves Harp Rouge.
Closing the musical entertainment will be Calgary Celtic band Third Reel. Comprised of Janine Sirignano on fiddle, Peter Buchak on concertina and accordion and Sean Smith on guitar and bouzouki, a most interesting instrument for an ensemble focused on music from Ireland and Scotland, the group is expected to raise the musical temperature of the legion somewhat with their highly energetic splaying.
Kudos to Calgary Celtic singer Linda Haugh for organizing and putting together this spectacular musical extravaganza.
Advance tickets may be purchased at the Scottish Import Store and Tix on the Square. Doors will be swinging open at 6:30 p.m.
